Saluda Cymbals Artist | Bill Galbraith
Born July 7th 1959, Bill grew up with musical
encouragement from his loving parents.
Bill started his musical career in the early 70's studying with jazz
drummer Sal LaRocca {Teddy Wilson Quartet}. Four years later Bill
began studies with drummer-percussionist Lou Grassi {CIMP Records}.
This period led to mallet instrument and timpani exploration along
with drum set instruction. In 1977 after statewide competitions, Bill
landed a seat in the New Jersey All State Orchestra. Bill had the
privilege of performing and recording a limited edition album under
the baton of renowned composer, conductor Vaclav Nelhybel. Upon
graduation of high school in 1978 Bill landed an audition and eventual
position with the regional touring band "Colony". Bill sat at the drum
"helm" previously held by Max Weinberg {Bruce Springsteen E-Street
Band drummer}, and Joe Nevolla, {ex. Mahogany Rush}.
Some of Bill’s musical highlights include; performing and recording
with blues man, actor Sam “Magic man” Waymans {Nina Simone’s brother
and lifelong bandleader}. Bill had the privilege of performing with
Dee Kyle’s ensemble in front of 2000 people at the Atrium of The World
Trade Center just months before the September tragedy. Bill performed
with the seven-piece ensemble "Keepsake" at the American Scholarship
Awards in NY City to an audience that included Saxophonist David
Sanborn. In 2003 Bill penned the single “Jersey Blues” which was
picked up by Silk City Records for the “Red Hot Blues” compilation.
This recording has enjoyed airplay throughout the U.S. on numerous NPR
blues stations, along with Canada and Denmark {Radio Hostelbro 97.4}.

Willpower throughout the NY- NJ Tri-state area. Currently the band is
preparing for a third cd of all originals. Bill stays busy
