Saluda Cymbals Artist | Cory Sutton

With music playing a major roll in my life, it was only natural that I became a musician. growing up as a child, we had various types of music playing all the time, ranging from Delta Blues to 70's Arena Rock to Country...as I got older and I got my first taste of Rock and Roll, that being AC/DC, it was obvious what road I was heading down! The 80's came rolling in and my love for harder music was really taking over. I remember in 1983 getting Motley Crue's Shout at the Devil, I was 10 years old, I remember opening the gate fold album (YES ALBUM as in VINYL!!) and seeing 4 of the baddest guy's I've ever seen. I knew right then and there that's what I wanted to do in life!! My musical taste took another turn, as I sought after heavier sounds, I turned to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and the rest of BNWOHM and then well it happened, I heard SLAYER and not just Slayer, F'n SLAYER!!! Their music changed my life entirely, the sound was devastating, controlled violence and full of raw energy - needless to say there was no other band after that, and to this day there still isn't! Hearing Dave Lombardo was a surreal experience. I used to sit for hours and air drum to 'Reign in Blood' and, from time to time, I still catch myself doing that when I hear a song being played off that album when I'm out somewhere, my musical taste hasn't changed much, its only gotten broader. I can be heard listening to (and playing) Black, Death, Prog., Thrash, Speed, Gothic, Doom, Stoner, and everything else in between or over the top.

Drumming has always been close to my heart. Like I said, hearing Tommy Lee on Shout at the Devil and Dave Lombardo all but paved my path. In the last 5 years or so, I've really started to come into my own as a drummer, defining and honing my skill's and with the experience of playing live, meeting my favorite drummer's (picking their brain's for secret's all the time, sorry Tony L!!) and finally being able to play everyday has helped me develop into the drummer I am now. I'd like to say thanks to Saluda for letting me beat the hell out outta their cymbals and to all my family and friends who stood by and supported me, and last but not least to my Pops, you are greatly missed R.I.P.
