Saluda Cymbals Artist | Erick Caceres

Erick started his career in football. Football you say? Yes football. In his freshman year in high school, Erick joined the football team. He actually played his freshman year on the same team as the late Pat Tillman. But sometime in the middle of the year he felt, well, that football just wasn't for his smaller stature so he decided to quit and join the school marching band. The best part about this is he had no idea how to play.

Two years pass and Erick is the Percussion Leader for both the marching band and the concert band of his high school. He plays everything from the snare drum to timpanis. Learning to read music, lead, and also teach music, he decided to go full out and buy a drum set.

The year is 1997, with the help of his father, he gets his first drumset from Guitar Center. "Aaah, the good ole Premier kit", according to Erick, "that kit lasted seven years! I couldn't afford anything else so duct tape became my best friend and cracked cymbals were like my cousins." But he powers through the years learning everything he can and joining bands that ranged from death metal, black metal, hardcore, metalcore, jazz, screamo,
grindcore, hip hop, emo, and straight rock & roll. He tasted a small amount of fame and the music industry in a few of those bands but there was always something missing from all of it.

2007 is the 10 year mark for Erick's skills. In April he joined a band with some former co-workers of his and decided that punk rock, which was always in his roots, would be something extremely fun to venture in. With a new band name in tow, they sit in their studio in South San Francisco writing away trying to create some awesome and fun punk rock songs pulling influences from Jawbreaker, Alkaline Trio and The Clash to name a few.

Within months, The Sweet Revenge begin to play numerous shows, landing a deal to film a music video directed by Dan Fraga (Ashlee Simpson, Usher, Backstreet Boys, Kelly Clarkson) and begin to work on their first official release, mixed by famed producer Alex Newport(At The Drive-In, Piebald, Brazil, Sepultura, Me First and The Gimme Gimmies).

One of the things this band and Erick are proud of, "We recorded on a 1" analog reel. Yeah!! So that means I had to play all the songs completely without any breaks or punching in. It was hard but the best experience I've ever had in the studio."

So this long biography comes to an end. What did we really say here? Well with help from a great company like Saluda and others here and there, Erick and The Sweet Revenge are looking to take over the world one drummer at a time...
