Since Jonathan graduated from the
Bob Cole Conservatory of Music in 2012, he has been
working as a full time Musician. Pushing the
limits of versatility and symmetry, he has worked with
professional music groups all over the nation ranging
from Traditional Jazz, Progressive Jazz, Bebop,
Latin, Latin Jazz, Samba, Steel Drum, Reggae,
Bluegrass, Country, Traditional Celtic, Progressive
Celtic, Classic Rock, Progressive Rock and several
Musicals. Bands such as Luis Munoz Band (winner of
Latin Jazz album of the year in 2004) and Alien Ant
Farm, to name a couple. Currently, he performs in his
own band playing drum set for large corporate events
and weddings. Also, is the percussionist
performing on his ground breaking hybrid drum set up
in the Award winning Celtic band Sligo Rags, who
regularly play at Disney California Adventure and
Downtown Disney.
In addition to performing full
time, Jonathan teaches private lessons in which he
incorporates his teaching methods used to bridge the
gap between “drummers” and musicians. Teaching
students from young beginners to professional
musicians, these students learn how to play drum
set and how to incorporate hand percussion technique
into their playing. For Jonathan, timing is
everything and teaching his students the science of
time and sonority is crucial to their development as
musicians that play drums. In addition to stick, hand,
mallet and brush technique, learning to
incorporate both feet into the students drumming and
time keeping is what takes their drumming and
creativity to the next level.
