Does anyone have any experience with these and if so, what is your impression? Is the effect more of a clangy rattle or is it more of a sizzle? Looking for a way to add a little sizzle to my hats but I won't drill holes for rivets in what is a rather expensive upper high hat cymbal. I'm using 14" Zildjian A Armand high hats and I like them just fine but a removeable sizzle effect would be kinda cool. Thanks.

I use mine with Mist-X hats and Zildjian New Beats, and it produces a sizzle effect. I like mine, but that may not be substantial to you unless you try it. I'll try to make a video of mine within a day or two inside both hats.

I'll be getting those videos up tomorrow for you. I've been rather busy, so I haven't had much time to do it yet.

Here it is. The camera has compressed the sound a bit, so it's a little hard to hear the SalBel. It has a rattle effect sometimes and a sizzle other times. Rattle - sloshy hats Sizzle - foot splash Sorry I didn't do a whole lot of different things (such as more foot splashes) and control videos without the SalBel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWU1Bs8itSk

Cool thanks, thats what I was hoping for with that effect. I've just missed out on a couple of them on ebay recently. Wish jamie would offer them up on DGOL.

Ask him if you can order one via email. I'm sure he offers them.

I'm interested in getting one of these too. They seem like a fun little effect!

Finally got a sal-bell off ebay. Neat little effect, subtle but it's there. Nice sizzle, kinda like riveting a bottom hat without drilling holes or making permenent mods. Not as loud as rivets either. Complements my two riveted rides nice. Could be a little more prominent but I like it. Also dampens down hat clang some. If your interested, I'd say go ahead and get one. Also makes a nice low volume bell accent but I think I'll leave mine in the hats. V-bell works great for bell accent but you really have to be careful and sensitive with that thing or it's like hitting a china cymbal when you really shouldn't! Those things aren't at all like the cup chime sound of a Zil Bell. Bell from Hell is an apt description I've seen used before. Don't get me wrong, I like mine but inch for inch that damn thing packs more punch than anything else on my kit!

saluda offers these as a promo free item sometimes when you order another cymbals.
I am waiting on custom hihats now & jamie throw'd in the salbel for free.
in the past I have taped a piece or two ( 5" piece) of BB chain (like from your cieling fan) to the inside of the bottom hat when recording one time .. it worked out pretty well. I currently using as my main hats a pair of 14"Sabian AARegulars & I am hoping the SalBel will keep me from having to buy new hats. I desire a sound close to what the Zildjian Z3 Mastersound hats sound like. I plan to get Saludas to fill this sound if the salbel does not satisfy me.

The "chain trick" works pretty well. I used a piece on my A Sweet ride for awhile before deciding to go ahead and add rivets to it.
